Re: How to hot-start swan?
Hi Amy,
It would also be helpful to see your output/log file or your .erf file that is usually created when SWAN crashes.
Have you tried the SWAN mailing list?
https://sourceforge.net/p/swanmodel/mai ... del-users/
You might have more luck finding answers there than in the ROMS forum.

I had a lot of boundary currents like this in the beginning which were essentially due to erroneous boundary forcing. Also I noticed you had -
Have you tried playing around with the nudging parameters?

Re: MCT error Inlet test case on a Mac
Hi Soroush,
It looks like it can't find your mpif.h file.
I did a quick google search and it seems like your problem is similar to this one here https://bb.cgd.ucar.edu/node/1001293
Maybe this helps?

Re: ERROR: Abnormal termination: NetCDF OUTPUT.
I've got it to work now. There seems to be some sort of character limit to the input files? I can run by setting FRCNAME == SWAROMS_forcing/wind_swaroms_hourly_1.nc| SWAROMS_forcing/wind_swaroms_hourly_2.nc| SWAROMS_forcing/wind_swaroms_hourly_3.nc| SWAROMS_forcing/wind_swaroms_hourly_4.nc| SWAROMS ...

ERROR: Abnormal termination: NetCDF OUTPUT.
Hi everyone, I recently switched machines and now I am having problems running my application. Hopefully, someone can point me in the right direction. I compiled ROMS 3.7 on the new machine and was able to run the Upwelling Test Case successfully. I'm using the Intel compiler and NetCDF (4.3.2 ...

Re: Problem - forcing time step drifts after a while
So the reason why the model stops after the 2nd input file is because I defined the cycle length for some reason. Without cycle length = 1 the model should not stop. I'm still unsure about the drift though.

Problem - forcing time step drifts after a while
Hi, I have a problem with the time step in my forcing files. I force my model with hourly wind stress data (amongst other parameters, but wind is the one I am having troubles with). I save the hourly output into a his file. Generally, this should look like this - it writes the history fields and ...

Re: ROMS boundary radiation problem
Thank you Kate and John, If you only want the boundary condition nudging and the SSS nudging, you do not need TCLM_NUDGING. Okay, I turned off TCLM_NUDGING. your initial conditions for ubar and vbar are zero Good point, however, do you think that would effect the model after it runs for a month or ...

Re: ROMS boundary radiation problem
Thank you for you quick reply Kate, I should've mentioned, I am using ROMS 3.6. Your boundary choices look something like mine, but you don't have ADD_FSOBC or ADD_M2OBC. Also, have you tried RADIATION_2D? It might help. I will try adding ADD_FSOBC, ADD_M2OBC and RADIATION_2D and see if that fixes ...

ROMS boundary radiation problem
Hi everyone, I am still fairly new to ROMS and I have been struggling with my model of the Western Australian SW coast for quite some time now. Currents do not seem to radiate through the boundaries properly, I get unrealistic current velocities in deep areas along the boundaries, and eddies get ...

Re: MCT error Inlet test case on a Mac
Just a quick update. Like I suspected, I made the error when compiling MCT. I compiled MCT without openMPI using --enable-mpiserial To get it to work I had to compile openmpi first using ./configure FC=gfortran F77=gfortran F90=gfortran CXX=g++ CC=gcc CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/local/include LDFLAGS=-L/usr ...

Re: MCT error Inlet test case on a Mac
I did download it but the header file says ** Application flag: INLET_TEST ** Input script: ocean_inlet_test.in ** coupling_inlet_test.in ** sediment_inlet_test.in and I want to use swan_inlet_test.in as input so I assume I have to modify the header file, which I did, as stated above.

Re: MCT error Inlet test case on a Mac
Thanks for the replies. i am not sure. you could try to use 1 proc for each model and see if that works. if you are getting an Errfile from SWAN, then something is wrong with the swan input files. if you run w/ just 1 proc for swan, then those files usually get written to. My SWAN output tells me ...

Re: MCT error Inlet test case on a Mac
Thanks for the answer, in the coupling.in I have Nthreads(ocean) = 2 Nthreads(waves) = 2 and in the ocean.in I have NtileI == 2 ! I-direction partition NtileJ == 1 ! J-direction partition so it should work? I keep getting the error as above though.

Re: MCT error Inlet test case on a Mac
Of course thanks! I had USE_OpenMP=on instead of USE_MPI=on USE_MPIF90=on I guess I got confused with the open MPI. I can compile it now, however I can't run the model. To run it I type mpirun -np 4 oceanM ocean_inlet_test.in and get Coupled Input File name = ocean_inlet_test.in MOD_COUPLER - Unable ...

MCT error Inlet test case on a Mac
Hey all, I'm having troubles compiling the inlet test case. It might have something to do with how I compiled MCT?! I'm running ROMS on a Mac (Mountain Lion). I compiled MCT using ./configure FC=gfortran F77=gfortran F90=gfortran CXX=g++ CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/local/include LDFLAGS=-L/opt/local/lib ...
