Re: Possible Coding Error in gls_corstep.F: application of gls_Kmin and gls_Pmin to control advection
Hello, it appears there may be a small coding error in the gls_corstep.F file. I recently read the paper by Warner published in Ocean Modelling in 2005, the code provides more details. However, I noticed a discrepancy in line 1011 where the computation of Gh differs slightly from the formulation ...

Re: passive tracer forcing file error
Hi,Wilkin. Thank you so much for your reply. It's very useful and specific. Only one passive tracer in my model. And after defined ANA_BPFLUX,the messy code disappeared and the Model works. I really appreciate your help, thanks a lot. And i guess the messy code may comes from mod_ncparam.F, it gives ...

passive tracer forcing file error
Hi all,I am using roms701 to add a passive tracer to my model. But the model can't find some requested variable in my forcing file. The log file output some messy code. The log file shows unable to find requested variable ***,but I don't know which variable it is . To run the model with passive tracer ...

Difference of station file and history file output
Hi,I am using roms701 to simulate tidal current in an estuary. I compare the model data with fields data, use both output from station file and history file.when I use the results in history file, model data agrees well with fields data, but results from station file NOT. so I wonder whether there are ...

Re: roms river temperature problem
thank you m.hadfield,
When I choose the wrong location and direction of the river, the model will blowing up soon .
when you set Ltracersrc to false, what is your TS advection scheme ?

Re: roms river temperature problem
Kate,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes,I try to avoid set LtracerSrc to True.
Once Ltracersrc is True,I should specified a river_temp value for my river, and it make the temp structure of the estuary strange and obviously wrong,so... i try to let the model compute itself to get a result.

Re: roms river temperature problem
Thank you kate. here is my TS advection option: TS_C4HADVECTION Fourth-order centered horizontal advection of tracers. TS_C4VADVECTION Fourth-order centered vertical advection of tracers. Is this option unstable? How about set TS advection option to TS_MPDATA ? Or other option you recommend.

roms river temperature problem
Hi, I'm running a case on a estuary with river runoff input.Let the Logical switch of point sources temperature 'LtracerSrc' to False. But the temperature of the zone where point sources located decrease along the model run,and the low temperature water along the river flows downward . After several ...

Re: Strange results when use Q_PSOURCE for Point sources
thank you kate! The temp goes well when i used UV_PSOURCE. i am wondering if there is something wrong with the Q_PSOURCE option, when i output the temp step by step, the temp of the point where i put the river point sources goes down from the initial temp slowly. "Flux of water imposed in the ...

Strange results when use Q_PSOURCE for Point sources
Hi all, Below is my CPP options when i used roms570 ,only eastern boundary is opened, min depth is 0.3 m,DT=25,NDTFAST=10,16 levels,rx0 =2.329628E-01,rx1 =5.861046E+00,added 2 rivers in my case, choose TS_PSOURCE & Q_PSOURCE for Point sources,as i used WET_DRY,and the low tide in the region is about ...

Re: What to do to keep my ROMS case from blowing up??
thanks orango, the open boundary, grid topology are what we shall consider at the grid generation, maybe we care too much about the solution at the western inner bay, which we are focusing. we can try a nested version in next step after solving the overflow problem caused by the dry and wet ...

Re: What to do to keep my ROMS case from blowing up??
Thank you arango. Curvilinear grids provide a high grid resolution in the area of interest and a low resolution elsewhere, thus saving computational effort. http://www.rsmas.miami.edu/users/prynne/Tidal_Inlet_files/DELFT%20RGFGRID.pdf the website shows the Generation and manipulation of curvilinear g ...

Re: What to do to keep my ROMS case from blowing up??
Thank you ZQ.
i'm really appreciate of your advice,i will read this paper recently.
As a beginner of ROMS ,Take the liberty of asking a word, what law is my grid against, should i use the linear grid instead of Orthogonal curvilinear grid ?

Re: What to do to keep my ROMS case from blowing up??
thank you arango.
I'm sorry.
the grid resolution of the figure i show before is 30*30.
Actually when i run the case the grid resolution is 300*300.
when i run the model as min depth is 5 m ,it won't blowing up.

Re: What to do to keep my ROMS case from blowing up??
thank you kate. as i run the case before the salinity is going bad in a "wet"spot. Re: about conservation of roms
thank you kate, In the estuary ,i set some sections from head to mouth. And there is no branch, so the tidally averaged water flux in the each section should be equal, at least there is almost the same. But the water flux in the each section is different and from head to mouth the value decrease ...

about conservation of roms
Hi everyone,The roms is applied in estuary, and i set some sections in estuary. but i found the water flux in every section is not the same and some have big difference. Is there any nonconservation in computering of roms? and is there some options in cppdef.h needed to defined to ensure the ...
