Hi,
I'm working with an output from ROMS with monthly forcing of discharges from rivers. I'm working in a daily resolution and I want to understand how the model calculates the output from the rivers in higher resolution than the forcing. I understand that the model conducts an interpolation but I'm getting high pulses of discharge which I don't understand where they come from.
How I should interpret the daily output from monthly forcing?
Thanks in advance,
CR
Interpretation of daily output from monthly forcing
Re: Interpretation of daily output from monthly forcing
Do the pulses coincide with the forcing?
Re: Interpretation of daily output from monthly forcing
Well, there is no pulses in the forcing since is only one value per month.
Re: Interpretation of daily output from monthly forcing
It would be helpful if you gave more details about the problem. Can you show a plot of the problematic pulses?
Re: Interpretation of daily output from monthly forcing
Sorry for the delay. I've attached a picture showing the daily evolution of SSS. Ml, It and Bb represent rivers and you can see how there is an increase of freshwaters in this regions.
I understand that ROMS interpolate the monthly value so the same amount of freshwater come from the rivers every day, right?
Thanks!

Re: Interpretation of daily output from monthly forcing
If you have one value for each month, defined let's say at the 15th of every month, then the model will interpolate linearly between consecutive months, and I don't think that will result in the same value every day if the monthly values are different.I understand that ROMS interpolate the monthly value so the same amount of freshwater come from the rivers every day, right?
