Dear all,
I have a problem with tidal forcing on my domain. The tidal amplitudes are too big in semi-closed bays.
How to define a boundary condition type at river point sources (like we have to do for open boundaries), to make the tides propagate?
The image below is a bias in [m]: M2 tidal amplitudes from ROMS results minus the corresponding TPXO focring.

Tides are only forced at the open boundaries, not at rivers. You'll probably have to do something like increase the bottom drag in those bays. We have a bottom drag that's a function of depth for just such cases.

Seems to me that tidal forcing doesn't match at your northern region either, this is where your BC are.
You can have amplification in the the bays, like resonance, and if you are having say 10% wrong BC than that can result with large errors elsewhere, even more in bays like that, sensitive to those periods.
I would check my BC and analysis if were you, then worry about river inlets..
