Re: Blow up before starting
Here is my domain! Would it be possible to extend your West boundary all the way to the upper land? (If I am reading the map correctly)? Or rather, can you cut the domain from for only North boundary (where West boundary starts)? But it is definitely your forcing that is the problem. Your file name ...

Re: Help on ROMS Blowing before even running first time step
Hi, Although it says blow up I think there is something else. - At your initial time step, Potential Energy and Total Energy is NaN? - You have many MPI/Intel Fortran Library issues (as far as I can see many warnings on that). - You max speed at time 0 is ~1.5 m/s (which is quite high for start up ...

Re: ROMS coupled to CICE
Hi All, I am experiencing an error with inquire.F. The error is, it is trying to create/read a file (which it really shouldn't). I haven't set to output to quick file but getting this, Screenshot 2023-05-01 152633.jpg I am adding this as an image, because, the garbage part before the file path ...

Re: ROMS coupled to CICE
No worries Kate,
I have setup the additional export variables from ROMS to CICE in roms.in. At least now I can see the Coupler message of whole export list. Maybe its just expecting a dummy file name .

Re: ROMS coupled to CICE
Hi Kate, I was able to compile your version of the metroms. However, it still doesn't exchange the atmospheric forcing information from ROMS to CICE and CICE still wants to read the atmospheric data file. Was there a specific CPP option or forcing parameter that had to be set for ROMS to send the ...

Re: Leak/Artifact at CPU Tiles
Thank you Kate,
I generally check the forks along with the code, but somehow I missed your fork of metroms.
I believe your commits to exchange the atmospheric forcing from ROMS to CICE will be very helpful.
Bilge.

Re: Leak/Artifact at CPU Tiles
Kate, Hernan, Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I was hoping the tiling problem could have been solved much easily. On the other hand I actually started using METROMS before trying the ROMS-ICE code. The time I have spent just to compile METROMS was painfully long. In the end, I have a ...

Re: Leak/Artifact at CPU Tiles
HI Kate, Actually I have started with your version of the code, but for some reason I am getting frazil ice problem at the very beginning of the simulation (around time step 3 to 60, depending on which ice parameters I open in cpp_flags). I have retried your version again, using exact cpp_flag ...

Leak/Artifact at CPU Tiles
Hi All, I am running a fork of Kate's ROMS-Ice from Trond https://github.com/trondkr/NS8KM-ROMS . I am getting this weird leak like artifacts around especially xi-direction CPU tiles for ice related parameters. The model is running without! any other significant problems (as far as I can tell). I am ...

Re: ROMS from github error
Hi, I also had the same problem when building the ROMS-Ice code, but only with the multi processor building: (./build_bash -j 8 ) I believe as Kate mentioned, the dependency order has to be taken care of. However, if I use single process to build, I get no problems with building. I chose not to ...

Re: NaN occur in fisrt step
Hi, According to your log, your atmospheric conditions have a problem. You can see that there are a lot of 10^35 values and your time of atmospheric values also doesn't look right. You might have to check the forcing files all together. GET_2DFLD_NF90 - surface u-wind component, 5748-07-01 00:00:00 ...

Re: ROMS coupled to CICE
Hi Saikat, I am using the MATLAB tools inside the ROMS svn. In https://www.myroms.org/wiki/Subversion you can find information on downloading source/matlab codes etc. Besides that you might have to check the Data directory in ROMS/trunk/Data . It has examples and .cdl file to generate netCDF files ...

Re: ROMS coupled to CICE
HI Saikat, If you are asking about the CICE input forcing/boundary conditions I believe you only need initial condition file different than the ROMS files. I think CICE can use the same atmospheric forcing file. In order to create an initial file for CICE, there is a directory in the metroms called ...

Re: ROMS coupled to CICE
Hi, You should check the common/python/ directory. There is a file called Params.py inside that directory. All the adjustable settings are regarding the simulation are hold at that file. If I remember correctly it might be a directory named data/ at the same level as the apps/ directory. Even if not ...

Re: ERA5_wind_problem
Hey Amir, The netCDF file you posted only contains the net longwave radiation flux, but looking at your log files, it seems that the files are not the problem. One thing I try to do especially if you are starting from the zero SSH condition, is to ramp up the winds. If on the first time step of the ...

Re: making grid with pyroms
Johan,
It looks like you are mixing the order of the parameters.
I am using s_coordinate successfully as:
You do have an extra variable of hc in the function call.

I am using s_coordinate successfully as:
Code: Select all
vgrd = pyroms.vgrid.s_coordinate(h, theta_b, theta_s, Tcline, N, hraw=h)

I agree, not much different information you can gain for half a dz up/down.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: pyroms zslice vertical interpolation
Thank you for the answer Kate; The variables are defined at half dz from surface and bottom that is by the nature of the grid. However, what I meant was during visualization pyroms can only interpolate between top and bottom cells, which is logical. Alternatively, in John Wilkin's ROMS MATLAB tools ...

pyroms zslice vertical interpolation
Hi all, In pyroms when you use quiver or zview in pyroms_toolbox, it ends up using pyroms.tool.zslice() function. And in the implementation of the zsclice it uses the FORTRAN implementation of zslice from iso.f in the "src" directory. However, when I check the implementation of iso.zlice subroutine ...

Re: PYROMS status
And just an addition to Kate, With my grid generation runs using pyroms, due to some reason, it requires my mouse pointer to be within the boundary where the grid will be generated. I went to a Python workshop last year in which I heard about "technical debt" for the first time. It applies here ...
