the simulation of floats' vertical motion
Hi all, Now I am trying to use ROMS to simulate the 3-dimensional trajectories of floats. I am a little confused with the vertical motion simulated with online float simulation. Is the vertical float's tracking process based on S coordinate or z coordinate? Because I think the results based on the ...

Re: Calculation of river discharge with ROMS outputs
grids.JPG Thank you for your reply, Kate. So does it mean ubar(1,:,:) in Matlab is the same as ubar(0,:,:) in Fortran? In the output, the length of the first dimension of u is 37, and zeta is 38.I think the positions of u and zeta in output are like the figure I upload. Am I right? If I am right ...

Re: Calculation of river discharge with ROMS outputs
The size of ubar is (37,644,60) and zeta is (38,644,60). zeta(1,:,:) are not zeros when there are no lands. So I don't think ubar(1,:,:) is the boundary.

Re: Calculation of river discharge with ROMS outputs
onegrid(1,400)dxdy.tiff onegrid(2,400)dxdy.tiff Dear all: I have found why there are so many peaks. Because u(1,:,:,:) are zeros even not in land. And I checked the depth-averaged continuity equation for the grid (1,400). It is not closed just because of ubar(1,400,:) are zeros. For other grids ...

Calculation of river discharge with ROMS outputs
River discharge.tiff Dear all: I am calculating the river discharge with ROMS output. But the river discharge I acquired was not smooth along the channel. I have tried to look for many reasons, but they did not work. Does anyone come across the same problem as mine? Thank you for your time. Below ...

Re: How does it realize the continuity equation in ROMS?
And I have seen that the calculation of total depth and vertically integrated mass flux in step2d_LF_AM3.h. The code is like this: DO j=-1+J_RANGE+1 DO i=-2+I_RANGE+1 cff=0.5_r8*om_v(i,j) cff1=cff*(Drhs(i,j)+Drhs(i,j-1)) DVom(i,j)=vbar(i,j,krhs)*cff1 # ifdef NEARSHORE_MELLOR DVSom(i,j)=vbar_stokes(i ...

Re: How does it realize the continuity equation in ROMS?
I calculated it both in one grid and in one section. As we know, pm and pn are related to the density locations. But in C grid, u and v points locations are different from the locations of density. How can we know the pm and pn related to the u and v locations? That is to say, in the continuity ...

How does it realize the continuity equation in ROMS?
Dear everyone: I am calculating the integrated continuity equation and total transport flux with the ROMS output. When I calculate the integrated continuity equation, it is hardly closed. But when I calculate the net transport flux and the time variation of the volume in one grid, they are balanced ...

Tidal Forcing in ROMS
I am a beginner to learn ROMS. Now I want to simulate the tide in an ideal rectangle bay. But I don't know how to add the tidal information at the open boundary. My model is an ideal model. Should I download the desired tidal constituent database and associated software, yet?Or I just need to modify ...
