the simulation of floats' vertical motion

#1 Unread post by taowang »

Hi all,
Now I am trying to use ROMS to simulate the 3-dimensional trajectories of floats. I am a little confused with the vertical motion simulated with online float simulation. Is the vertical float's tracking process based on S coordinate or z coordinate? Because I think the results based on the two different coordinates are different.
Thanks a lot for your reply. :)

The online ROMS floats all move in the i,j,k space, not the x,y,z space. They use the omega vertical velocity appropriate to the s-coordinate.
