Description:
The African Centre for Climate and Earth Systems Science (ACCESS) invites
applications from suitably qualified candidates for immediate appointment as
Oceanographic Numerical Modeler. The contract period is for 3 years with an
option of renewing for a further 2 years. There is a 3 month probation
period. The position is Cape Town based.
Operational oceanography is an important component of ACCESS whose objective
is to develop a common sustainable and user-friendly environment early
warning system providing management from various countries and institutions
in Africa with targeted information regarding the state of the environment
and its evolution at different spatial and temporal scales. The system will
consist of a range of simple and robust physical indicators from the
viewpoint of their relevance as regional priorities. Work carried out will
build upon existing research and specifically that carried out in the BCLME
programme taking this to the next level.
