Post-doctoral position in palaeoceanographic and -climatic modelling
At the CRC we seek to reconstruct the circulation and productivity of the highly dynamic Late Cretaceous ‘chalk sea’ of NW Europe. In particular we are interested in modelling the climate conditions that permitted bottom contour currents and bottom boundary layer flow and how this flow interacted with the formation of biogenic and physical mounds. Therefore we seek a candidate that has experience with ocean circulation models (preferably MITgcm or ROMS) and possibly marine bottom boundary layers.
The Department of Geography and Geology, University of Copenhagen has openings for two post-doctoral positions in palaeoceanographic and -climatic modelling and nannofossil palaeoecology, respectively. Both positions are for 1 ½ years (to be started immediately). Work will take place in the dynamic research environments at Geocenter Copenhagen, where the Cretaceous Research Centre (CRC) unites the forces of a number of PhD fellows, post docs and senior scientists working on the Upper Cretaceous chalk and associated carbonate sediments of NW Europe.
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a strong background in their respective fields. Candidates should hold a PhD degree in geoscience. The salary depends on seniority, as agreed between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Negotiation for further supplement is possible.
