Two Postdoctoral Positions in Ocean Biogeochemical Modeling at UCLA
We are seeking two postdoctoral researchers in ocean biogeochemistry and ecosystem modeling, to join two projects aimed at: (1) modeling the ocean’s nitrogen cycle, with particular emphasis on low-oxygen processes; (2) modeling phytoplankton dynamics and harmful algal blooms (HAB), with a focus on the California Current region. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and interdisciplinary research group, located at the University of California Los Angeles, engaged in development and application of Regional Earth System Models to a wide range of questions in biogeochemistry, ecology, and climate. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Earth Sciences, Ecology, or a related field, effective oral and written communication skills, and experience with development and analysis of numerical ocean biogeochemistry/ecosystem models. Experience with the ROMS modeling system, Matlab/Python is strongly encouraged. Candidates should submit a CV, a 1-page statement of research interests and goals, and contact information for up to 3 references to Daniele Bianchi (dbianchi@atmos.ucla.edu). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the available positions are filled. The initial term of appointment is one year, renewable on an annual basis.
