Hi,
I'm using the COAWST (WRF-ROMS-SWAN two-way coupled mode) to simulate the air-sea heat and momentum fluxes over the Gulf of Mexico. The wave significant height is very small in the west part of the Gulf compare to the WaveWatch3 result from NOAA. The wave directions in the west part of Gulf are not consistent to the wind direction as well. Below are the initial and physics option I used in the wave input file:
& Restart name **********************************
&INITIAL DEFAULT
& PHYSICS ****************************************
BREAKING CONSTANT 1.0 0.73
FRICTION MADSEN 0.05
&OFF QUAD
GEN3 KOMEN AGROW
WCAP KOM 2.36E-5 3.02E-3 2.0 1.0 1.0
PROP BSBT
Attached are the comparsion of wave height from wavewatch 3 and COAWST simulation (5-day simulation)

Re: unreasonable wave simulation result using COAWST
since this is a wave related issue, I am not sure this is the best place for this discussion. can you submit something on the coawst forum

just to add some info, i mapped the swan wave height from our forecast (see attached image) and it looks similar to WW3. so perhaps there is an issue with your winds.

Re: unreasonable wave simulation result using COAWST
Hi John,
Thanks for your reply. I'll try the COAWST forum.
Best,
Qi
