sustr is in the i-direction and svstr is in the j-direction, aligned with local grid coordinates.

Thanks Kate,

I want to know the wind stress sign convention. For example, if I have one southerly wind... is

sustr = 0
svstr > 0

or not?

Thank in advance

Cheers,

Brianda

Yes, that's right. A "southerly" wind is a wind from south to north with svstr > 0.
