A new formulation of EcoSim pigment calculations was included in the 2.2 version of ROMS. In this version, pigment biomass was explicitly tracked as mass, rather than previous formulations that relied on the carbon:pigment ratio. The advantage was greater numerical simplicity and more consistent handling of this tracer when compared with the other mass tracers. A bug was found in the 2.2 version of ecosim.h code dealing with the growth of the pigment biomass, which only became evident over longer periods. A correction has been made and will be available in the next release of ROMS.
In the interim, an unsupported version is available as well as an example netCDF forcing file for multi-year BIOTOY simulations.
