We invite Applications for a postdoctoral scholar position in regional ocean modeling. The position is to carry out high resolution simulations of the Gulf of Mexico as part of the CONSORTIUM FOR ADVANCED RESEARCH ON TRANSPORT OF HYDROCARBON IN THE ENVIRONMENT-2 (CARTHE-2). The goal of this research is to improve understanding of the complex submesoscale dynamics of the northern Gulf of Mexico. Modeling results will be augmented and interpreted in light of new oceanic observations mainly acquired through the CARTHE-2 program.
The successful applicant will undertake original research, leading to publications in leading international journals, while being part of a large, collaborative, multi-institutional research team.
Essential requirements for the position: a PhD in Physical Oceanography or a related discipline and experience with regional ocean modeling (preferably ROMS).
This is a fixed term position for 12 months with the possibility of a 12-months extension dependent on performances. We seek a late spring start date – or sooner.
Applicants should address the selection criteria in their application.
