COASTAL PHYSICAL OCEANOGRAPHER, TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION. The Physics Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track position beginning 9/15/2014. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate physics and physical oceanography, and to maintain an active professional development program that provides research experiences for undergraduate students. Research expertise in nearshore coastal circulation and hydrodynamics of bays and estuaries is desirable as is experience with fieldwork and research cruises. In addition to being a member of the Physics Department, the successful candidate will also be a member of a multidisciplinary team of faculty comprising Cal Poly's Center for Coastal Marine Sciences (http://www.marine.calpoly.edu), which is a member of the Central and Northern California Coastal Ocean Observing System and the Southern California Coastal Ocean Observing System consortia. These consortia offer extensive oceanographic data sets and provide opportunities for collaboration to enhance student-centered research. A Ph.D. in physics, oceanography, or related field is required and must be completed prior to start of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
