A 3-year postdoctoral position is available at the School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University, UK. This post, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), will bring together expertise in physical oceanography and numerical modelling applied to the emerging field of renewable energy in the context of the SuperGen UK Centre for Marine Energy Research (UKCMER). The overarching aim of the project is to investigate the effects of extreme conditions on marine energy generators when installed in arrays or farms, and the project is a collaboration with oceanographers at Bangor University, computational fluid dynamic modellers at Cardiff and Swansea Universities, laboratory expertise at Liverpool University, and monitoring of engineering systems at Cranfield University. The Bangor component of the project will use state-of-the-art oceanographic models to investigate the environmental impact of renewable energy arrays, compared to the scale of natural inter-annual and inter-seasonal variations.
