Researcher Position in Oceanic Circulation Modeling
Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics
University of California, Los Angeles
We are seeking a researcher to work on problems of oceanic circulation dynamics using the Regional Oceanic Modeling System (ROMS). The researcher would join a highly experienced group with expertise in computational methods, realistic simulation of complex flows, and dynamical processes, especially the interaction of currents with abyssal, continental-slope and -shelf, and shoreline topographies.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physical oceanography or related discipline, extensive experience in the numerical modeling of oceanic flows (preferably using ROMS), a strong publication record, ability to synthesize both ocean model output and oceanographic observations, and the desire to work in collaborations on highly interdisciplinary problems.
The initial appointment is full-time for one year with continuation with satisfactory progress. The position is available immediately and applications will be considered until the position is filled. Individuals from under-represented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Please email a cover letter stating your research accomplishments and interests, a curriculum vitae, representative publications, and contact information for three recommendations to:
