abnormally low temperature at the open doundary

#1 Unread post by FengZhou »

Hi,

I make a test running in Bohai Sea. It's all closed but the eastern boundary. The inner domain of circulation and temperature are all realsonable as I expect. Howeever the temperature at the eastern bondary (the most eastern column: Lm) is abnormally low and the gradient is pretty strong and weird.

The temperature matrix near the eastern boundary is as follows:

18.668 17.831 18.007 15.302
17.487 16.49 21 6.976
21.289 17.854 22.269 13.06
...
21.247 18.057 22.301 9.1446
21.169 18.376 22.422 11.785
20.825 18.306 22.299 13.446
21.451 18.082 22.684 13.391
20.841 18.569 22.108 13.735
21.264 17.754 22.451 13.52
20.467 18.818 21.444 15.213

.... N....
.W | E
.....S....

Does it caused by boundary or something inappropriate with tracer differential equation?

Thanks!

You don't tell us what open boundary condition you are using. There are several options. Is it one that needs external information? Where is it getting it from?

reply for boundary condition

Hi, Kate,

Only the Eastern boundary is open. I chose

#define EAST_VOLCONS

#define EAST_FSGRADIENT
#define EAST_M3RADIATION
#define EAST_TRADIATION

and also I use
#define ZCLIMATOLOGY
#define ZCLM_NUDGING
