Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, (http://scripps.ucsd.edu) invites applications for up to two Assistant Professor positions in Atmospheric Sciences, Physical Oceanography, and Marine Engineering. Successful candidates should have the potential to become scientific leaders. Interest in establishing innovative research and education programs is a prerequisite. Interaction and collaboration with the many existing programs in Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Scripps is encouraged. Specific areas of interest include the development of technology for observing the ocean, collection and analysis of data, ocean-state estimation and modeling, dynamical meteorology, dynamical oceanography, and the role of the ocean and atmosphere in past and present climate.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach classes and supervise research at both the graduate and undergraduate level. The positions require a PhD degree and a competitive record of publication, as well as evidence of the ability to conduct and fund an active research program consistent with the opportunity to have done so at this career level.
