Principal Research Scientist: Physical Limnologist / Physical Oceanographer / Hydrodynamic Modeller
CSIRO Land and Water
Canberra, Australia
International applicants welcome
We are seeking applicants who combine a strong background in physical limnology/oceanography/environmental engineering with experience in hydrodynamic modelling of aquatic systems. The position requires close integration with biogeochemical and ecological scientists to develop the systems understanding necessary to support management of Australia’s rivers, reservoirs, and estuaries. We expect that the successful candidate will provide leadership in research and be responsible for developing and coordinating projects. The work provides unique opportunities to collaborate closely with researchers both within and external to CSIRO on problems of national importance, and ensures close interactions with diverse networks of stakeholders and decision-makers across the country.
The successful applicant will lead a team of aquatic scientists and modellers, undertaking major research initiatives to support the management of Australia's rivers, estuaries and reservoirs. They will develop innovative ideas to facilitate understanding and prediction of hydrodynamic processes in natural systems and work with the team to integrate this with an understanding of biogeochemical and ecological processes.
