how is the time averaged advection output in ocean_dia.nc defined

Hello everyone, would someone please tell me how the time-averaged advection is defined, for example, temp_xadv. It appears to me that it is 1/H * dx (HUT), not U dxT. where H = dz/ds. Am I correct? Also, for the averaged outputs, since the layer thickness is not constant, are the time-averaged variables thickness averaged outputs or simple time-averaged outputs?
