The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) is seeking a post-doctoral Assistant Research Scientist to work on a NSF-funded project in the area of estuarine/coastal oceanography. The position will involve the development and applications of numerical ocean models, and the analysis of observational data. Research topics include river plume, particle transport and biogeochemical cycling. A Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography or a related field is required. Experience in numerical modeling is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The appointees are eligible to receive the full university benefits, including the medical, prescription and dental plans as well as the state retirement and pension plan. Position begins in July, 2022. The initial appointment is for 2-years, with re-appointments possible, contingent on satisfactory performance.
