Spatial scales

I'm looking at using ROMS to model an estuary in southern California. Most of the applications I've seen are generally large scale. I assume that it can be scaled down to an estuary (~1 km x ~1 km with an offshore grid ~10x that size) but before I get too far along that path, I thought I'd see if anyone sees limitations or roadblocks to this.

I have used ROMS to simulate 'large scale' (for me ~ 10 km grid) to small scale (for me ~ 5 m grid in surf zone). I have used ROMS to simulate estuarine flows, for example in the Hudson River estuary:

I do not see any issues with the scales you suggest.
