Qualifications
M.Sc. or Ph.D degree in physical oceanography with a background in Physics or Engineering. Knowledge of underwater acoustics or experience with the POM model would be an asset.
Oceans Ltd. is seeking physical oceanographers to work with an interdisciplinary team in providing services to the company’s clients. Data collection programs are being carried out offshore Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The work involves data analysis, oceanographic modelling, report writing and participation in research projects. The company has implemented the POM model, current dispersion models, oil spill trajectory models, and an iceberg drift model; all of which are used in real-time. The company has offices in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
