blow-up when lateral gradient increases

I set the U-wind and V-wind as input forcing file, when the lateral gradient of these two variales increase, the project blow-up.
So how can I solve this problem if I want to run the high lateral gradient case? Thank you!

Maybe you need a shorter timestep when the winds ramp up. What is the nature of your blow-up?
