Hello. I am a beginner of ROMS. I have a question.
How Small/Large region can ROMS compute?
Can ROMS do a Grobal scale computation at once?
If Anybody knows the Minimum/Maximum size on map that ROMS can treat
at once, please teach me.
Thank you.

I know, this is old but is the global set up still available somewhere (GitHub etc.)? Thanks!kate wrote:Paul Budgell is doing a global ROMS. On the small end, I think it has been run to simulate a laboratory rotating tank to the same scale. Four meters across? Something like that.

I once had a global setup with a tripole grid on some long-abandoned branch. Numerically, it was terrible, losing deep water properties in far too short a time. Then a colleague was talking to climate modelers and was told you don't want to run globally at 25 km anyway: it's too fine for non-eddy-resolving, too coarse for eddy-resolving. Paul has since switched to other models with better deep water conservation - best to ask him directly for his setup.
