The Department of Ocean Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz, invites applications for a position of Postdoctoral Scholar to study coupled physical-biogeochemical-ecosystem processes in the California Current region.
Specific research tasks include implementing and analyzing high-resolution coupled model simulations to: (1) quantify the impact of regional- and basin-scale processes on local upwelling dynamics, (2) determine the historical and present-day variability of nearshore pH and oxygen in response to coastal upwelling, (3) investigate the broader ecosystem response (plankton to fish) to long-term climate change.
The postdoctoral scholar will work under the direct supervision of Prof. Jerome Fiechter and be part of a broader interdisciplinary research group that offers the possibility to collaborate closely with other postdoctoral scholars, graduate students and faculty at UC Santa Cruz, as well as researchers at NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service.
See attached flyer for application details and deadline.
