The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) is seeking one post-doctoral Assistant Research Scientist to work on NOAA-funded projects in the area of estuarine/coastal oceanography. The position will involve the development and applications of coupled hydrodynamic-biogeochemical models, and the analysis of observational data. Research topics include harmful algal blooms and ocean acidification in estuarine waters, and the impacts of climate variability and change on Chesapeake Bay. A Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography or a related field is required. Experience in numerical modeling is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The appointees are eligible to receive the full university benefits, including the medical, prescription and dental plans as well as the state retirement and pension plan. Position begins in May, 2018. The initial appointment is for 1-year, with re-appointments of up to 2 subsequent years possible, contingent on satisfactory performance and funding.
