Re: Coastal flood risk assessment with ROMS?
My wish is to use ROMS for flood risk assessment and forecasting, and for the latter stability is critical. You can't have the model crash once in awhile for operational forecasts. So, I have the same question as Stef, and so here is a follow-up question -- Can ROMS be run in a 2D barotropic mode ...

Re: Some Questions about make a forecasting system
What are you trying to forecast? If you are only forecasting total water levels or flooding, the problem is somewhat simpler and less sensitive to the use of data assimilation. Instead it requires more attention to met forcing, ensembling, river inputs, and perhaps postprocessing bias corrections ...

Re: Water Level for One-Way Nesting is Wrong but Two-Way Nesting Works
I noticed there is another modeler from several years ago with questions on nesting Florida Bay and having a grid boundary in the Florida Current. You might reach out to them about what their experience was and solutions -- https://www.myroms.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3215 For the experts: Zhang ...

Re: Water Level for One-Way Nesting is Wrong but Two-Way Nesting Works
I am a ROMS beginner but have experience with other models and I agree about needing two-way coupling with such a grid. I think the main problem is the corner of the one-way model in the Gulf Stream. Keep in mind the subgrid (child) has only the information given to it in the BCs and responds the ...
