About the "What is new in the ROMS Forum" - emails

Dear community,
Every day I get emails with the title similar to this topic header. How do I remove my email from this mailing list? I was unable to find any suitable option under User Control Panel where I would expect it to be.

Re: unrealistic boundary current when modeling internal tide

Have you tested that the ocean actually remains at rest when unforced? I had huge problems when simulating motionless stratified unforced water in a bounded region with sloping bathymetry. Artificial currents where generated near sloping sigmalayers.

Re: Unphysical velocities using custom salinity

Thank you Mathieu for your reply. I have changed the sigma layer parameters according to your suggestion. I also reduced the number of sigma layers from 32 to 24. I now smoothed first using GRID_LinProgHeuristic_rx0 with rmax=0.17, then applied GRID_Smooth_ROMS_rx1 with r1max=4.5. In addition I now ...

Re: Unphysical velocities using custom salinity

Dear Community, Thank you for your kind input. I have worked more on my bathymetry, as I realize my rx1 number was way too high. Using GRID_SmoothPositive_ROMS_rx1.m from the LP-bathymetry package with rx1max=5 i obtained a rx0-value of 0.078 which is way lower than I need. In addition I have ...

Unphysical velocities using custom salinity

Dear ROMS community. I am trying to simulate baroclinic wind-driven motion in a fjord in Svalbard. At the moment I try to run the model from rest with zero forcing and salinity varying in the vertical but horizontally homogenous. When i run the model there are generated unphysical currents of order ...

About the psi-variable

Hello, I am setting up the model with grid from file. My collegue assisted me in this, and he said that I could simply delete all variables related to psi in the input netcdf files, i.e x_psi, mask_psi etc. This way the model would not compute the psi values, resulting in faster run time and less ...

Re: roms_matlab plotting and analysis routines

Hello.
In the file roms_plot_bathy.m line 12 it says
grd = get_roms_grid(grd_file);
I believe the correct function call is
grd = roms_get_grid(grd_file); ?

Re: plotting bathymetry....

Hello mashinde.
To my understanding it seems this error is due to a typo in the file roms_plot_bathy.m. Line 12 in that file should not be grd = get_roms_grid(grd_file);, but rather grd = roms_get_grid(grd_file);. That error is present in my roms_wilkin files as well
