Write problem
Hi I am running ROMS-3.2 to simulate the basin scale Indian ocean circulation. It was running fine on cluster computing facility. When I am trying to run the same configuration on my new dual quadracore machine (all coefficients, time steps are same), it is blowing up saying NaN. I tried with ...

Re: blow up
thank u kate
i think last one is right, i.e.,writing problem. Because it was blown up at the time step where it has to write avg, his files. then what will be the problem.
thanks in advance.

blow up
Hi all, I am running a ROMS for Indian ocean. I successfull ran the model on a cluster. But when I want to run the same model configuration without any changes on a multiprocessor (8 processors) HP machine, it getting blow up with same time step (1800sec). What may be problem ? At the same time ...

Re: Multiple doubts
Sorry for the late reply Kate. I would set them with ANA_SMFLUX, setting them explicitly to zero in the ana_xxx.h files. I would turn off BULK_FLUXES and only provide the stresses and the heat/salt fluxes. If it is still blowing up, it's probably something else. I had did what u said and run the ...

Re: Multiple doubts
Thanks Kate 1. I had run in diagnostic mode (TS_FIXED) upto 150 days. When I plotted kinetic energy vs time averaged over basin it increased upto 20 days and then it is almost constant(file attached). Whether now can we call the model is stabilized? 2 Actually I mean how to give tnudging values in ...

Re: Multiple doubts
Thanks for ur immediate response Kate. 1.U r right I am asking about the bulk_fluxes only. But I am having wind stress data, then how to feed to model since it looks for the wind speed? 2. How can I justify that diagnostice mode (TS_FIXED) is not required in ROMS? 3. At present I am not worried ...

Multiple doubts
Hi I am having some doubts regarding roms: 1. We are implementing both ROMS and POM. When I am running same configurations for both the models, ROMS is taking 3 hr to run for one month on normal PC while POM is taking half an hour on the same PC (whithout MPI). Why this much time difference is there ...

Re: thumb rule for hc
thanks for reply I had downloaded Roms_tools from http://roms.mpl.ird.fr/ and I had used this tool box for creating grid file. In that they clearly mentioned that for .25deg resolution, the minimum depth at the coast should be 150m. If we havent follow that also, automatically it will create grid ...

thumb rule for hc
Hi all, In Roms_tools, there is some right hand thumb rule for giving hc value, i.e, for 0.25° resolution 150m should be the hc value. This means the areas having depths less than 150m will be taken as 150m depth areas. I got this understanding from that file. But is this right procedure? Can the ...
