The Bay Area Environmental Research (BAER) Institute invites applications for a post-doctoral oceanographer to conduct research at the interface between physics and biogeochemistry in the Earth Science Division at NASA’s Ames Research Center (ARC) in Silicon Valley, CA. This full-time position is initially an appointment for one year with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory progress and available funds.
This research is expected to broadly build understanding of how ocean circulation variability and change impacts nutrient cycling in the North Atlantic Ocean. Applicants may contribute to this objective using NASA high-end computing resources in a variety of ways, which may include analysis of existing observations and model output and/or theoretical and numerical model development and experimentation.
There are also opportunities to work with the project PI (Dan Whitt ARC), project collaborators (Dimitris Menemenlis NASA JPL and Dustin Carroll Moss Landing Marine Lab), and to interact with other researchers studying coastal and ocean biogeochemistry and ecosystems and at ARC or nearby institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area.
