Question about ROMS-SWAN coupling

#1 Unread post by venuscheung »

a very quick question about roms-swan coupling.
I would like to run the coupled model with a large ROMS grid and a much smaller SWAN grid with a resolution 5 times higher than the ROMS grid.

I saw ROMS should have the same grid as SWAN on https://www.myroms.org/wiki/Wave_Model
may I ask is it true as I can run the Project/Inlet_test/DiffGrid and I think the two grid is similar.

If ROMS-SWAN should have the same grid,
can I run the coupled model with two ROMS grids and one SWAN grid, which the SWAN grid is same as the nested ROMS grid.
Thank you and sorry for asking so many questions.

roms and swan can have different grids. yes that test Inlet_test/DiffGrid is an example of that. there is more information for that test case in the coawst manual.

Thanks.
I have tried using ROMS with a larger and coarser grid, and a swan with a smaller and finer grid.
Error came out but I cannot solve the problem.

Therefore, I make the ROMS grid having the same size and resolution as SWAN and it run successfully.

However, I still face some problem during restart.
