Hi ROMS users
I am saving Hsbl (depth of oceanic surface boundary layer) and Hbbl (depth of oceanic bottom boundary layer) variables in my average output file. I am using LMD vertical mixing scheme. When I plot Hsbl, I observe that some of the values (generally near river mouth) are positive and the rest of them are negative. Same is the case with Hbbl. So my question is how does one interpret these negative and positive values of Hsbl and Hbbl? If the depths in ROMS are given as negative, then shouldn't Hsbl and Hbbl be always negative? Please help.

Re: surface boundary layer depth
You can have positive Hsbl where zeta is positive. The boundary layer thickness is (zeta-Hsbl).
