"dt" and "NDTFAST" values

#1 Unread post by RubenDiez-Lazaro »

Hi.

We are setting a ROMS application.

A lot of our attempts ends on a blowup situation, then we tune some input parameters, like "dt" and "NDTFAST" in the .in file, or probe to change the numbers of deep levels (32 or 64). ... Is this the normal way to get roms working?

Another question is about the values of these parameters: we only get an stable application with dt values between 60 and 300 seconds, and NDTFAST between 255 and 511 (grid size about 150-200)... With these values, the number of steps is too long for the annual simulation i attempt, so it runs slowly... Are these values normal for the "dt" and "NDTFAST" parameters?

We are using the Roms_Agrif version of ROMS in an 10 nodes cluster.
The input files are generated by the rooms_tools package and the macros in the cppdefs.h are the default ones, nevertheless i try change some of then, with equal or poorer results...

where we are mistaken?
Some advice?

Best regards
