Fugro has over 30 years' experience in the analysis of metocean data for locations worldwide. The Fugro Metocean Modelling and Analysis team produce metocean criteria for a wide range of applications and have developed our own in-house modelling capability to expand and improve the services we offer. We are now looking for a suitable candidate to join our modelling and analysis team in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
The successful candidate will assist with the further development of our numerical modelling services and the integration of modelling services with measured data analysis and the provision of metocean criteria, and carry out numerical modelling and metocean criteria studies.
Roles And Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:
•Carrying out numerical modelling.
•Validating models against appropriate measured data sources.
•Deriving metocean criteria.
•Project management.
•Liaising with clients to establish their requirements and to present analysis results.
•Helping to develop new markets for our services.
Requirements
Qualifications required:
•A degree in Oceanography or related discipline is essential. A PhD is desirable.
Experience required:
•Use of metocean data to derive criteria for engineering design.
•Detailed knowledge of one or more modelling software products such as ROMS, MITgcm, HYCOM, Delft3D or Telemac is essential.
•Detailed knowledge of one or more modelling software products such as WRF, SWAN or WAVEWATCH III is an advantage.
•Validation of numerical model data against measured data.
•Running software on a Linux platform.
•Writing technical MATLAB and Python scripts.
•Knowledge of data assimilation techniques would be and advantage.
•Knowledge of machine learning techniques would be an advantage.
