Spectral nudging?

Hello everybody,

I have recently come to know that the WRF model provides the option for spectral nudging (e.g. used in Liu et al. 2012; Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics). This option allows to selectively nudge only the larger and coarser scales while leaving more variance at the smaller and finer scales.

I was wondering if somebody is working to a similar option in ROMS or wants to share any thought about it.
