restart file vs. grid file
restart file vs. grid file
When a ROMS run starts from a hotstart file, does it completely ignore the grid file defined at 'GRDNAME'? Thanks!

Re: restart file vs. grid file
No. It still reads the grid NetCDF file. You just need to change the file that it reads for initial conditions. In this case, it need to read the restart file for the specified input time record.
Re: restart file vs. grid file
Thanks, Hernan! One more quesition:
For the 'overlapped' variables (e.g., water/land masks, etc) between the two, does the ROMS use their values defined in grid NetCDF or in the restart file? Some times modelers 'game' the system by updating variable values in restart file. I therefore I have this question. Thanks!
