#1 Unread post by MJiang »

Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (HBOI) at Florida Atlantic University is seeking applicants for a two-year Postdoctoral appointment in the area of coupled physical-biogeochemical modeling in coastal and shelf oceans.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to define their own research topics/direction that fits into the HBOI strategic research plan (http://fau.edu/hboi/pdf/StrategicPlan.pdf). The candidate should also be willing to work with a team of scientists with various research interests in a university culture that fosters innovation and collaboration within our institute, with colleagues at FAU and other collaborators.

The research interest can be either estuarine-coastal systems or shelf-regional scale processes including, but not limited to, eutrophication, harmful algal blooms, carbon cycle, and meso-scale processes. We are particularly interested in candidates who have strong mathematical skills and a strong interest in marine interdisciplinary research. Experiences with ocean numerical models are necessary. Experiences with field work, GIS, data assimilation, and/or terrestrial processes will be a plus.

Minimum Requirements
(1) A Ph.D. in an area applicable to marine science and oceanography
(2) Strong mathematical and numerical skills
(3) Experience with ocean numerical models
(4) A strong interest in marine interdisciplinary research such as water quality, ecosystem dynamics, and/or carbon cycle
