Postdoctoral Position at UCLA/LANL
UCLA invites applicants for a postdoctoral research associate in ocean modeling. The successful applicant will participate in an Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics project to develop an upper ocean model (Danabasoglu & McWilliams (2000): J. Climate 13:3380-3334), within the framework of the Parallel Ocean Program ( http://climate.lanl.gov/Models/POP/ ) for use in climate, biogeochemistry, and other applications within the Community Climate System Model ( http://www.cgd.ucar.edu/csm/ ).
The candidate will be expected to reside in New Mexico and work closely with the POP team at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), while also collaborating with researchers at UCLA and NCAR. A Ph.D. in oceanography or a related field and experience in numerical ocean and/or climate modeling are required. Experience with Fortran programming for high-performance, parallel computers highly desirable.
