A pre-doctoral fellowship is available at the Ecosystem Research Group, Department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Cartagena (Spain) to perform a Ph.D. on Physical Oceanography: physical-biological relationships in shallow and coastal waters.

Job description: 1) Field Work: Coordinates field logistics, perform intensive filed sampling on small boats in coastal waters (both shallow and intermediate deep waters), collect water samples, management, deploy and retrieve oceanographic instruments, conduct field experiments. 2) Lab Work: Prepares for field work, processes time series analysis and samples, use and design application for physical and ecosystem modeling, maintains and organize data bases, analyze data using advanced statistics and software (MATLAB, C, Fortran programming, etc.). Install and implement ROMS models. Perform computational simulations, publish web results using OPenDAP and other Open geospatial consortium standard and tools.
Qualifications: Preferentially master degree (or degree) in marine sciences: physical oceanography or similar.
Terms: initially for one year, with renewal for a second and third year, subject to satisfactory performance.
Salary: 1.120 euros/month gross salary + medical insurance.
