Dear everyone,
We have evaluated the wetting and drying ROM's method by a 2D test case with an analytical solution (Thacker, 1981).We have obtained quite good results and we would like to know if someone has already done this kind of analytical test regarding the wetting and drying algorithm.

No, I am not aware of such tests. We tried with idealized and realistic applications. This kind of capability is difficult to code from first principles. So an engineering approach was code instead. I am not familiar with the Thacker (1981) analytical solution. It will be nice to add such application to ROMS test cases suite.

Fine! It's great to see that our work could be a good contribution to the ROMS test cases suite. We are now finishing the test assessment. As soon as we have all the results we will come back to you in order to see how to proceed to add this work to the test cases files.

For inter-model comparison of Thacker's bowl solution you might be interested on Lahaye et al. "A numerical scheme for modeling tidal wetting and drying". JOURNAL OF GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH, VOL. 116, C03028, doi:10.1029/2010JC006666, 2011.
Note that it would be interesting to extend the solution to a 'baroclinic' bowl!
