ROMS<kshedstrom version> question about the "Smagorinsky-like diffusion""

I'm recently studying the kshedstrom version <https://github.com/kshedstrom/roms/tree/master>.

The model works well with the <define UV_VIS4, define TS_DIF4>.
However, if I activate Smagorinsky-like diffusion <undef UV_VIS4, undef TS_DIF4, define UV_VIS2, define TS_DIF2, define UV_SMAGORINSKY, define TS_SMAGORINSKY>, it runs for about 3 months and then bolws up. Following is the reported error:
