2016 ROMS/TOMS Asia-Pacific Workshop
Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies
Hobart Waterfront, Tasmania, Australia
October 17 - 20, 2016
We have had several cancellations, making it necessary to rework the agenda. If you are presenting, please check the agenda again as your presentation slot may have changed.
Notice that each day has specific theme and includes oral talks and poster sessions with lectures mixed in Tuesday - Thursday. The oral presentations are 30 minutes including time for questions and answers. The lectures are 60 minutes or 90 minutes.
Posters will be displayed throughout the workshop and poster sessions will be during the extended lunch breaks. Posters are limited to size A0 (841 x 1189 mm, 33.1 x 46.8 in).
There is no registration fee to this year’s workshop. We greatly appreciate our sponsors for making this possible. However, there will be a small fee for the optional Peppermint Bay cruise and dinner reception on Tuesday but we sincerely hope you will join us for this unique opportunity. You all should have received an email from Conference Design Pty Ltd requesting you RSVP to this event and pay the cover charge if you plan to attend. The fee is 40 Australian dollars (~31 U.S. dollars) for attendees and 80 Australian dollars (~62 U.S. dollars) for additional guests. Please RSVP by the end of this week. If you have not received this RSVP email please contact robertson@marine.rutgers.edu.
Each attendee will receive a workshop packet including the program and additional information and this year's t-shirt. A PDF version of the program with maps to help you get to and from the workshop, tourist attractions and maps, the agenda, and all the talk and poster abstracts is available here. This is a print quality PDF (7.3MB) so it may take a few minutes to download.
Lunch will be provided for all four days of the workshop. The 2 hour extended lunches will allow time for poster sessions.
Although not obligatory, we encourage you to use PowerPoint or similar electronic presentation media. Please bring your presentation on a memory stick or CD. Each presentation will be loaded into a single Mac and Windows based laptop. We ask you to provide your talks during registration or during the breaks before your session. Please bring an electronic copy of your poster to the workshop so it can be included in our CD archive. We also plan to load these presentations and posters on the ROMS/TOMS website for future reference.
There is a lot of information on the main workshop page:

Unless you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, you will need a visa to enter Australia. There are several types of visa's available depending on your country of origin. We suggest using the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection Visa Finder tool to determine what type of visa is best for you. When you enter Australia you must give the immigration agent the same visa condition you selected when obtaining your visa. For example, if you obtained a conference-type visa, then tell the immigration agent that you are visiting on holiday, you will be denied entry.
Looking forward to seeing you in Hobart,
