Physical Oceanographer
CSIRO Marine & Atmospheric Research is seeking a physical oceanographer with experience in using ocean models and dynamical interpretation of the model results to join our team of observational oceanographers and hydrodynamic modellers in Perth Western Australia.
The successful candidate will have experience in the application and interpretation of global and/or regional models, and in the analysis of climate model outputs. The position requires a good understanding of ocean dynamics at basin scale and/or shelf scales and a strong interest in the impact of future climate on regional marine systems. Beyond physical oceanography, the project requires a high level of teamwork, multidisciplinary research, and an aptitude to assist state managers in assessing scenarios of marine climate-change. We aim for quality research that has practical benefit.
PhD or equivalent experience in physical oceanography or related field is essential. An outstanding record of research excellence and achievement in numerical simulations of hydrodynamics in global and/or regional oceans (indicated by the outcomes of completed work and scientific publications) will be highly advantageous.
