net solar radiation

#1 Unread post by redhat007 »

-when SOLAR_SOURCE is turning on, it needs swrad data. Is swrad NET solar shortwave radiation or solar shortwave radiation?
But in varinfo it does not mentioned to NET :?:

Code: Select all

'swrad' ! Input/Output
  'solar shortwave radiation flux'
  'watt meter-2' ! Input: [Watt/m2]
'shortwave radiation, scalar, series' ! [Celsius m/s]
  'srf_time' ! Output: [Watt/m2]
  'idSrad'
  'r2dvar'
  1.0d0
all the best

There's a discussion of ALBEDO around here somewhere. If you have a sea-ice model, it should be total incoming shortwave so that the sea-ice can manage the albedo feedbacks. Default ROMS does not manage the albedo feedbacks, so if you don't have ice, it should be net.
