Re: seagrid2roms ---ncmex (line 110) Undefined "fcn"

Dear CharlesJames, I value very much your effort exploring possibilities. I also understand that do not buy an expensive compiler that you do not need. Thanks for that effort. Beside that, I've had the change to try the program on another computer. It works very well and offers a smooth way to build ...

Re: seagrid2roms ---ncmex (line 110) Undefined "fcn"

Hej John, I very impressed by what I see in the description (pdf-file) of your grid program. Unfortunately we a not allowed and able to install any program on our windows machines. Therefore I would like to ask, if you program could modified so that it runs on Windows without installation. Since I'm ...

Re: zice in grid file for ICESHELF

As a consistent data set for bedrock and ice shelf topography as well grounding line positions you might consider the following data set Timmermann, R, et al. (2010), " A consistent dataset of Antarctic ice sheet topography, cavity geometry, and global bathymetry ", Earth Syst. Sci. Data, 2, 261-273 ...

Re: How to calculate the residence time

Hi, you might have a quick look at Bolin, B., & Rodhe, H. (1973). A note on the concepts of age distribution and transit time in natural reservoirs. Tellus, 25(1), 58–62. doi:10.1111/j.2153-3490.1973.tb01594.x "A brief review is given of the concepts age distribution, transit time distribution, turn- ...

Re: Convert sigma coordinate to Z depth in ferret

I faced the problems with ferret several times and have found a quite simple solution Assuming that show data gives the following output currently SET data sets: 1> ./ocean_his_0001.nc (default) title I J K L NTIMES number of long time-steps ... ... ... ... NDTFAST number of short time-steps ...

Re: require netcdf for 64-bit platform!

This is my Linux-necsx.mk File for a NEC SX-6 at the DKRZ, Germany. We use a cross compiler environment on a Linux-driven front end causing the file name to be Linux-necsx.mk. This file is based on the Linux-ifort.mk file. If you have a similar setup, copy the file into the directory Compilers and ...

Re: OA Fortran routines

I have used cdo (Climate Data Operator http://www.mpimet.mpg.de/fileadmin/software/cdo/), which works nicely with netCDF data files. Part of the command suite are different interpolation schemes ( e.g. bilinear, nearest neighbor, conservative remapping .... ). You use cdo directly from your unix ...

This is correct. The via seagrid2roms converted file should contain all necessary fields. You might check the content visually with ncview ( http://meteora.ucsd.edu/~pierce/ncview_home_page.html ) a simple netCDF viewer, which I use also to inspect model output. But please keep in mind, it is only a ...

In some cases you even might experience problems with the above reported set of switches for the configure statement: Code runs and stops with Segmentation fault while it writes into the ocean_his.nc file. In this case you might follow the instructions given by Intel to build your netCDF libraries ...

If you have compiled both ROMS and the netCDF library with the Intel ifort compiler (in my case Version 10.x) and your error persists you might append the -lnetcdff switch in ./Compilers/Linux-ifort.mk , so that LIBS := -L$(NETCDF_LIBDIR) -lnetcdf becomes LIBS := -L$(NETCDF_LIBDIR) -lnetcdff ...
