Re: Blow up when restart from history file
I'm glad you got it to run. As for the restarts matching exactly, you do not have enough information stored in the history files to accomplish that. The nature of the ROMS timestepping requires information from more than one timelevel of some fields, plus some right-hand-side information to do ...

Re: Blow up when restart from history file
I have run from an averages file, no problem. Do you have all the fields you need? Did you tell ROMS it was a new run with NRREC=0? If there's biology, did you really save everything you need in the history file? I've had runs die with COBALT when the averages file didn't have say the htotal field ...

Blow up when restart from history file
I spin up the North Pacfic experiment with open boundary and surface force interpolated from ECCO2 data. The model have been run for 1 year, and the output frequency is 1 month. During the 1-year run, the model result is fine. Then,I want to check the oceanic state at 19th in the February. However ...

Why the Nud+Rad boundary can't be used in the adjoint model
Dir Sir: When runnning the adjoint model, I find that if I set the adjoint boundary conditions like this: ad_LBC(isFsur) == Cha Cha Cha Cha ad_LBC(isUbar) == Fla Fla Fla Fla ad_LBC(isVbar) == Fla Fla Fla Fla ad_LBC(isUvel) == RadNud RadNud RadNud RadNud ad_LBC(isVvel) == RadNud RadNud RadNud RadNud ...

strange bugs when reading time in the force file
Hi everyone: When I testing the ROMS adjoint model,I met a strange problem when reading time in the force file. When I run the adjoint model, I met an error when reading solar shortwave radiation: SET_2DFLD - current model time exceeds ending value for variable: swrad TDAYS = 15.0000 Data Tmin = 0 ...

The difference between climatology and open boundary?
Hi,everyone I'm confused about the difference between climatology and the open boundary in ROMS.In my opinion, when run a model you only need the initial condition, force and boundary condition, so what role does the climatolgy play? If I get the open boundary and climatology files from the same ...

How to create the child grid when do nesting?
Hi,Everyone: Now, I want to do nesting with ROMS (not offline nesting), so I don't know if there is any limitation on the child grid. Should the boundary of child grid be exactly on the grid of parent grid? Or only need the domain of the child grid in the domain of parent grid? And is there any ...

How to define the input forcing files when having many?
Hi everyone! Now I'm using ROMS to simulate the ocean circulation on a very high resolution. Because of the limited size of the netcdf file that can be created by Matlab I have to split the forcing and climatory file into many smaller files. The way I'm using is to create one file for each variable ...

Re: Strange Oscillation
I think it's inertial oscillation too, have you tested the frequency of the oscillation?
