Hi,
The roms output density anomaly is not consistent with the value I calculated using temp and salt. But the roms output potential vorticity is consistent with value I calculated.

Hi, I try to use biharmonic mixing of momentum (UV_VIS4) with UV_SMAGORINSKY. It always blow up quickly, even I shorten the time step. And ROMS give messeage like: CHECKADJ - use caution when activating: UV_SMAGORINSKY REASON: stability problems, WARNING. What's meaning of UV_SMAGORINSKY. What ...

How to decrease nc file bulk using mexnc
Hi,
Using NETCDF4 can obviously decrease nc file bulk.
Is mexnc function able to make it ?

Re: boundary problem
Dear kate, I'm interested in the vortex coming from the east boundary. The model grid space is 1/10*1/12 and OFES data resolution is 0.1*0.1 and monthly interval. The strong velocity from the west boundary turns into unstable and forms lots of vortex in the interior region. The simulated resoluts ...

Hi, I try to simulate the northwestern pacific region. Near the boundary, the sst appears discontinuous; the ssh appeares a gradient which results virtual velocity along the boundary. I take the boundary condition like these: Cha for free surface, Fla for 2D momentum, RadNud for 3D momentum and ...

'cycle_length' attribute results in problems
Hi, I want to run model several years with climatological forcing, so I add the attribute 'cycle_length' to the time, for example v3d_time,temp_time,salt_time in CLMNAME file. I have to splite the CLMNAME file into 2 file due to the data volume problem. But It outputs this error: current model time ...

what's the differences of hc and Tcline
Hi,
I donot understand the S-coordinate parameter hc and Tcline. I use the Transforme 2 equation and find that only hc is used. hc donot need to equal Tcline. What's the role of Tcline.

Hi, I'm trying to nudge to climatology using ocean_nudgcoef.nc file. I turn on nudging of 3D momentum and tracer. I get the error information: can not find the variable in NETCDF: ocean_nudgcoef. I have checked that file, all variables including M2_NudgeCoef, M3_NudgeCoef, temp_NudgeCoef, salt ...

Re: blow up at first step as long as I turn on the bulk flux
Hi,
ROMS seems only accept the longitude and latitude of monotonous increasing. If you provide the latitude like [30 29 28 27 26 25] instead of [25 26 27 28 29 30], the weird min/max values above appear.

blow up at first step as long as I turn on the bulk flux
Hi,
The atmospheric forcing variables are from NCEP2. As long as I turn on the BULK_FLUXES, it blows up at first step. No nans in the forcing file. However, I tryed the analytical values, it works ok.

Should I use curvilinear grid carefully, and just use the land masking?

Hi,
I try to produce a fan-shaped grid with seagrid, but I doubt that the orthogonality of the grid affects the calculation. I'm not sure whether the curvilinear orthogonal grid is proper.

Hi kate,
I am on linux, I want to set FORT to ifort.
In Linux-ifort.mk file, I didn't set USE_MPI and USE_MPIF90.
I have read the FAQ, but I don't how to set them.
how can I set the USE_MPI, USE_MPIF90 and the FC to its full path.

I'm a newer to ROMs. I'm trying to install netcdf according to unidata installation guide on centos, including zlib hdf5 netcdf4.3 netcdf-fortran-4.2. But there are many troubles when I run the upwelling test. Who can share your the installation process in detail. Thank you!
