steep bathymetry?
Are you using steep bathymetry? I found that using steep bathymetry with the MPDATA option led to a similar increase in salinity (at the intersection with the bathmetry, but it immediately sinks to the bottom). I guess this is a problem for stretched coordinate models (see Allen et al (2003) for a ...

slow salinity instability at base of steep bathymetry
Hi, I'm finding that the salinity is slowly increasing above that of any of my end members. I'm using the MPDATA advection scheme which I am thrilled solved my problem of salinity at the river input blowing up. Instead, I am seeing a slow upward creep of salinity, with the highest salinities along ...

rst problems
Hi, When I do a restart run, all of the salinities of the new output file are zero, right from the first step and stay that way. Anyone else run into this problem and figured out what the solution is? I was able to successfully restart runs when using version 2.1, but I consistently have the same ...

problem solved
the above mpi problem can be solved by adding a line
LIBS += $(MPI_LIB)
to the .mk file. I'm slowly figuring out how these things work.

macosx w/xlf & mpi
I made a make file Darwin-xlf.mk which I'm happy to share with anyone also using this setup. Thanks for pointing out the mac issues above in this thread. I also found it necessary to make a number of changes to makefile, for some reason. In particular uname -m was being flaky, so I had to specify ...

running ROMS on an OSX cluster
Has anyone had success in running ROMS on an OSX cluster? I can get it to compile, but am having trouble running it (I think the source of the problem is in mod_iounits) even on just one node. We're using a xlf95 compiler. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, thanks, amanda
